Firewood processing. Valerie is a long term member of our Forestry crew. There is usually a waiting list to join this crew as many Oakers are seeking physically active outdoor work in winter.

Val splits firewood. We harvest and process all of our fuelwood and some saw logs from our land, sustainably. We harvest no more than grows back on our land. Tractors and other small woodlot implements help with the job.

Cut flowers business. Woody started this business and operated it for some years, growing and selling cut flowers locally in Charlottesville. As of 2012 Tigger-Tom has continued where Woody left off.

George helps out in flowers biz. Woody planted thousands of bulbs and other plants for the market garden. Visitors and the occasional member help Woody with the cultivation and preparation for market. June 2004.
