Apples. An extensive apple orchard was planted here in the early 1970s. Many apples were harvested there and some of the trees were replaced as they grew too old to produce any longer. Other apple (and pear) tree plantings have been made in a few different locations since the first orchard was put in.
Blueberries and raspberries. We have one sizeable blueberry patch and one smaller one, northern varieties, both managed by the Garden manager and crew. We also have a few productive blueberry bushes in Kaweah yards, southern varieties. We have a large raspberry patch in the main garden.
Grapes. There is an old productive table grape vineyard, mostly Concord variety managed by the Garden manager and crew.
More. We have a lot of fig bushes in various locations, small patches of raspberries and gooseberries, a paw paw tree, some native persimmons, abundant wild blackberries and a few wild black raspberries.
2014 update. Quite a few more plantings have been done in recent years near four of our buildings that have large southside clearings, primarily overseen by ex-member Alexis, including introduction of various exotic crops such as hardy kiwis.
